Why Know Your Buy exists
Buying a used laptop usually means 15 minutes with a stranger and a machine that looks fine. What matters is inside, where you can't see it.
The problem
A battery that holds half its charge, a drive that's started to fail, a processor that overheats under load: none of these show up when you open the lid and click around. Often the seller doesn't know either.
Free tools exist, but they show raw numbers like design capacity, SMART attributes and clock speeds, and leave you to work out what they mean. Professional tools are built for refurbishing warehouses, not for someone standing in a café with a USB stick.
What Know Your Buy does about it
Know Your Buy runs the tests that matter, then translates every number into plain words and one answer: buy, negotiate or walk away. It runs from a USB stick, needs no internet, and finishes in about 8 minutes.
It's honest about what it can't be sure of. Laptops sometimes report numbers badly, so every result carries a confidence level.
Know Your Buy is free for buyers. Later, sellers will be able to attach a verified health report to their listing, and shops will get a version for checking stock. See what's planned.
